"Making Table Tennis available and accessible to all groups in our community"
Jersey Table Tennis Association
Our history
History
The JTTA was formed in 1923 and became affiliated to the International Table Tennis Federation in 1935.  Before 1939 there were three different leagues operating in Jersey (the Country Parishes, the Caesarean and the Free Church) with the JTTA organising the annual tournaments. After the Occupation the JTTA took on the responsibility of running the leagues, starting with three divisions in 1946, increasing to five in 1948 and seven in 1950.  A number of clubs operate within the Island, who are mostly based at the JTTA headquarters.

Assets
The Association was incorporated under Jersey Law in 1998, primarily to allow it to accept bequests and to acquire property. Thanks to the generosity of Geoff Reed and a grant from Jersey SLR Committee, the Association constructed and own a purpose built centre with space for 6 league size playing areas, a canteen, committee room, changing rooms and showers. It was officially opened in June 1999. It is the venue for most league matches and for all competitions.

Development
In 2006 the JTTA secured a full time development officer, Craig Gascoyne, to advance the sport in the Island. Dedicated junior and senior training sessions aim to create a strong force to compete in local, UK and overseas competitions.

Tournaments
Annual tournaments are run usually during spring of each year.  The winners of each of these Island events compete against their Guernsey counterparts in the Channel Island Championships. Each year the divisional tournaments are held with individual and doubles championships for each division. There are also perpetual trophies for the winners of each divisional team championship and the best individual average.

A Channel Island Top 12 competition was started in 1999 by each Island running an open robin event to determine their top six senior players, as well as a junior event seeking the top six juniors. It continues to occur annually in alternate islands. The Association selects squads to represent Jersey in various events.

Management and Administration
At the AGM, held in July each year, officers are elected, as well as various sub-committees. Each affiliated club also has a representative on the Council which meets monthly and is responsible for
