What is available for juniors?
The Appleby Development squad provides structured sessions for beginners, run by a JTTA coach. For those who progress, there are two further squads - the Advanced squad and the Elite squad. Juniors can become Centre members which allows the use of the tables at other times, if accompanied by an adult member or if a coach is present.
Does my child need to be a member?
As a beginner, the answer is no. A junior can sign up for the Development squad without being a member, although membership does provide a discount on fees. Players can choose to join at a later date. Advanced and Elite squad players must be members.
What is available for seniors?
Membership allows for the use of the Centre at any time, subject to table availability, and to play in league matches. Semi-structured improver sessions are available to both members and non-members, twice weekly, with members receiving a discount on fees. The sessions combine general play, coaching hints to improve play and some fun matchplay.
As a senior, do I need to become a member?
Non-members can subscribe to the improver refresher without joining the Centre. To play at other times or to play in the league, you must become a member. Membership also enables session fees to be discounted
How do I play in the league?
League play is available to all members of the GRTTC and St Mary's. The first step is to join a club and then pay a nominal annual registration fee of £30 for seniors and £15 for juniors. There are no additional match fees.
How do I join a club?
Pegasus, Victoria, CCC and St Josephs all play at the GRTTC. St Mary's plays at the St Mary's Sports Centre. Contact details for all are on the notice board in the GRTTC foyer.
Where do I buy a bat?
The JTTA has sourced some very keenly priced quality starter bats. We can advise on and order advanced bats as well as bespoke bats.
How about other equipment?
We can supply various items at competitive prices including bat covers, bags, bat cleaners and balls.
