2009 London Open Grand Prix Table Tennis Tournament 19/20th December.

Four of the Island's top Juniors travel to London this weekend to compete with more than 300 others in the blue riband of the sport's Grand Prix season at Redbridge in London. Josh Band, Luke Walker and Max and Hugo Tupper will all play in banded groups of ability due to ranking points and also in the Men's Open and Under 21 Men's events.
The draw has just been released and they have been handed some mouthwatering opportunities. In the Men's Open Walker faces the No.2 seed Gavin Rumgay in his group and Band has drawn the No.10 seed Chris Doran in his. In the Under 21's Hugo Tupper will have an opportunity against the Irish No.2 Paul McCreery, Walker against the England No.6 junior Zak Zilesnick and Band against the mercurial Emran Hussain whom he nearly beat last year.
In the Banded groups on the Saturday the Tupper siblings play in 5 an 6 with Max being installed as sixth seed in the latter. Both young players have a good chance of progressing to the latter stages of this group. Walker joins them in 5 where Hugo has a tougher draw against the No.2 in his group of four players. In Band 4 Josh Band is installed as No.6 seed and both he and Walker should progess to the latter stages as well. Band is the only representative in Band 3 and has been drawn away from the seeds but faces two talented players from France and Wales.
"This is the most juniors that have represented the Island at the London Open and we are hopeful of some great results," said JTTA President Chris Band. "They have been handed some brilliant opportinities in the draw for their four events so now it is down to them!!".
